How to set up a weed delivery service in FL. Lauderdale?

You are allowed to set up a medical marijuana business in FL Lauderdale. But before that, you need to acquire your business license. It will give you permission to possess, grow, sell and transport cannabis and cannabis-based products.

As far as your license is concerned, it will be granted by the Department of Health in Florida. This organisation is responsible for all registrations and procedures related to medical marijuana treatment centers. If you want a new license or renew your existing license, you need to contact the Florida Department of Health. They have the power to even take away your license if you fail to meet the operational standards.

License Requirements

In January 2017, a legislative amendment was passed which ordered more than 10 MMTCs to be opened in the state. An additional license will be given to applicants after the registration of 100,000 more patients. However, this doesn’t mean that new applicants will be given 10 new licenses for their business. Applicants who applied during the early wave in the year 2015, will have five licenses reserved for them. One license will be given to the Black Framers Group and two of them will be handed over to the agencies that are already operating in the citrus fruits industry. The three licenses that are left will be available for new applicants.

Even the locations of the new MMTCs need to be taken into consideration. The new centers must be equally distributed all across the place. This means places such as Northeast Florida, Northwest Florida, Central Florida, Southwest Florida, and Southeast Florida should be getting one MMTC in their region.

Financial requirements

If you are planning to apply as a new applicant, then you should also know about the financial requirement as well. You need to pay an application fee of $60,000 at the time of application for an MMCT business license.

You should be informed that this amount is non-refundable. It will be decided by the Department of Health which applicants will get the license. So even if you have paid the application fee, it is not guaranteed that you will be given the license.

How much does a weed delivery service make?

A marijuana business in Fort Lauderdale can make anywhere between $50,000 to some millions of dollars in a year. However, this is completely dependent on the demand and the location of the service. Florida dispensaries are allowed to operate as non-profits, therefore, these numbers may vary slightly.

Time Requirements

To set up a business, it takes time. This is applicable even for setting up a marijuana business. Due to the limited number of licenses, it can take you longer than what you have expected. It can take you more than a year to secure your business license.
